SNOW UPDATE

SHOLING SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED TODAY.  WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE SNOW FALL INCREASING DURING THE DAY.

I have to assess a number of factors before closing the school and I always consult with the headteachers from our neighbouring schools before making that decision.

• The state of pathways, steps and slopes around the school
• Condition of roads and pathways in the local area
• If staff are able to get into school and return home later
• The weather forecast for the day
• If the school's heating, lighting and water is working correctly
• Whether catering can be provided
• Availability of public transport

The decision to close is never taken lightly and we would genuinely prefer to remain open. I understand that this may cause disruption for parents but it would probably be even more disruptive to receive a call at 12.00pm asking parents to come and collect their children.
