Single bus fares reduced to just £2 from 1 January 2023!

To help with the cost-of-living pressures the Government is subsidising most single bus fares to just £2. This is for a fixed period only, from 1 January to 31 March 2023. Click on the link below and watch the video

Try swapping 1 car journey a week for a bus journey. Maybe when you go shopping at the weekend? Or when you go swimming in the quays?

Information from the Bus Travel Team

We have a group of JTAs who are the Bus Travel Team. They have written the following advice:

Below are the links to the Local bluestar & City red routes around Sholing.

You will need to get off at Heath Road if you are onboard the city red 13 route,

When you get off you will need to take a short walk up heath road

Which will take 3 minutes.

When you are onboard the City red 3 route, you will need to get off at

Millers Pond and take a 10 minute walk to school from the bus stop.

When you are onboard the Bluestar 18 service, you will need to get off at Ruby Road and take a 8 minute walk down Middle Road to school.

Taking active travel to school is very important, and taking buses to school instead of driving reduces stress. Buses are also safer than individual vehicles. By leaving the car at home, a person can save up to 20 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions every day. Buses keep the air cleaner.

In Southampton, we have lots of bus route choices and companies to choose from including, Bluestar, City red, Xelabus, Wheelers and Southampton mini link which sadly left on October 30th 2022.

5 for £5 on the buses offer

Just a reminder that Local bus operators and Southampton City Council are continuing the 5 for £5 offer to the end of October on weekends. Groups of up to five people can continue to travel at weekends on Bluestar and Unilink services, City Red services or Southampton Mini Link buses and pay just £5 for the whole day. There are no time restrictions either!

Currently under construction by the JTAs - watch this space !
