This is one of our biggest events in Sholing Junior's calendar. Each year, to celebrate National Storytelling Week, the whole school spends the week developing their storytelling skills. This is always done through a theme and is launched the Friday before this incredible week takes place.
2020 - This year our theme is fantastically magical as for one week only, Sholing Juniors will be celebrating the themes of belonging, friendship, individuality and respect in the books of J. K. Rowling. Wands at the ready please!!
Previous Themes:
Predators - Inspired by David Attenborough's series called DYNASTIES, Sholing Juniors spend the week sharing stories about some of the most prestigious predators from around the world. It was a really wild week!
Around the World - This time we read and learnt about stories from around the world. From China to Africa, from Ireland to America, we travelled around the world finding new cultures and traditions as well as learning a bit about the human race's curiosity and need to explore.
Once Upon a Time - This theme gave each class the chance to explore different fairy, traditional and folk tales from across the world! Stories were shared in their original form and some were even twisted!
Space - We were excited about the release of the film "Capture the Flag", a film about the young boy who learns that his Grandfather narrowly missed out on the opportunity to be one of the first to land on the moon.
Rock, Paper, Scissors - An amazing animation inspired by the childhood game "Rock, Paper, Scissors" captured the minds of the whole school for the debut of this epic event.
