Y5 Week Commencing 4th May

Welcome to Week 3!

How's everything going?! We're so pleased to be hearing from more of you, and getting to see what you've been up to! Thank you and keep it coming!

There are some great things planned in for this week...and a party to finish it all!! Have fun!

Top Tip: Try to complete your Maths and English daily tasks in the morning. This way the rest of the day can be used to complete Sumdog challenges, chip away at your topic project or to get stuck into your reading.

Thank you so much for sharing your work with us - we're loving the work you're doing! Remember, if you need any help or have any questions, please email us at Year5@sholing-jun.co.uk or you can simply place a comment on the activity in Google Classroom.

We hope to hear from you soon!

For the Friday Challenge, each recipe will have maths to go alongside it. Feel free to choose any of the recipes you like! It doesn't have to be KS2.

Happy VE Day and enjoy the fun and festivities!!

English Tasks

Monday - Complete the second comprehension in your new CPG books. It should take you around 20-30 minutes. Send us a picture of your completed work if you can. Due 5th May

TOPIC TASK: VE DAY 75th Anniversary Celebrations

When VE Day dawns on 8th May 2020 it will be 75 years since the guns fell silent at the end of the war in Europe. Years of carnage and destruction had come to an end, and millions of people took to the streets and pubs to celebrate peace, mourn their loved ones and to share hope for the future. It will be an opportunity for us all to remember the enormous sacrifices that were made at home and abroad and to joyously celebrate as people did 75 years ago, the arrival of peace in Europe. This week’s topic reflects this. There are lots of creative activities for you to look at this week and we hope that you enjoy them. We have attached some additional links below the Topic Web to help – lots of art, craft and cooking. I hope you have a great week and let’s celebrate VE day this Friday!

Fact – Did you know: on VE Day 75 Years ago, Mrs Nicolson, wife of James Nicolson VC who appears on our school memorial, received the tragic news that he was lost at sea.
