SNOW UPDATE
Thu 01 Mar 2018SHOLING SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED TODAY. WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE SNOW FALL INCREASING DURING THE DAY.
I have to assess a number of factors before closing the school and I always consult with the headteachers from our neighbouring schools before making that decision.
- The state of pathways, steps and slopes around the school
- Condition of roads and pathways in the local area
- If staff are able to get into school and return home later
- The weather forecast for the day
- If the school's heating, lighting and water is working correctly
- Whether catering can be provided
- Availability of public transport
The decision to close is never taken lightly and we would genuinely prefer to remain open. I understand that this may cause disruption for parents but it would probably be even more disruptive to receive a call at 12.00pm asking parents to come and collect their children.

S.O.S. Parents' Christmas Shopping Event
Tue 21 Nov 2017Need to get the last few bits (or even get started?) on some festive shopping? The Supporters of Sholing (Sholing Junior School’s PTA) are hosting a shopping evening on Friday 1st December 3:05pm-6pm where your children will be supervised at Sholing Junior School whilst you can shop ‘til you drop…well at least until 6pm!
The S.O.S will be keeping your children entertained at school with a film and quiz whilst you enjoy some retail ‘therapy’ then pick them up from school at 6pm. (Children will be provided with a small snack and refreshments but you are welcome to send them with additional small snack). Booking a space for this event will cost £3 per child to attend the session. We have 120 spaces available so places will be on a first come, first served basis.
All slips and £3 payment must be received by Monday 27th November. Please enclose the £3 payment and completed form to the office in an envelope clearly marked ‘S.O.S. Christmas Shopping’. You can find the letter here.

Clean Air Day
Tue 17 Oct 2017Thank you to everyone that took part in the 'Walk to School Clean Air Quiz'. It was a great success and we will be announcing the results soon. We will also be setting up devices around the school to measure the amount of pollution in our environment. -

Tue 05 Sep 2017Thank you to all parents who attended the proposal meeting last term. The information from the presentation we shared is now on our website. Click on Children then the Residential page where you will also find the 'trailer' for the new residential.
As we mentioned, a parent mail message was sent out to gauge levels of interest before more information about deposits etc. is shared.
