It's Week 5!!
Whilst it's the 9th week of Lockdown, it's the fifth and final week of Summer 1 Term. After half term, we'll be in our final 7 or so weeks of your time in Year 5! What a year it has been!
This week sees us completing our class book - Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz. You're writing has already started and so far it's looking great! Well done! I wonder what book we'll be exploring AFTER half term?!
Maths
This week you will be looking at adding and subtracting fractions. We have done some of this in class already, so this should be something you are familiar with doing. The video lessons are still available on the White Rose website to have a look at first. There is also a fractions wall to help you should you wish to use it. Otherwise, enjoy!!
English Tasks
Monday 18th May (due Tuesday 19th May) - Complete the next reading comprehension in your CGP books.
Create and Investigate
Like all others, this week’s topic is all about creativity and getting ‘out and about’ safely. I know that more exercise activities have been approved, but if you do find things too busy out there, stay safe and keep at home. If you can’t get out and about, there are plenty of activities to keep you busy this week.
Mrs Manore has given me a scavenger hunt from those lovely people from the walk to school organisation. I am leaving these in a box outside school so you can collect one as you pass.
I have also set a mapping task around Queen Victoria Country Park. You will find bigger versions of this map outside school office for you to collect. A bit of history and a bit of an adventure along the way, depending on your mapping skills. I guarantee that you will all discover something new here.
There is a friendship bracelet video (really bad one) here. https://sholing-junior-school.primarysite.media/ I hear this is how people in the ‘olden days’ made rope. Why not try that and photo the result?
Tate kids is BRILLIANT. Choose any activity – as long as you have the kit – and let’s see more creative magnificence!
Lots of art, lots of Lego and lots of family fun to be had. Please send photos too please.
Have fun and stay safe
